Mr. Fabian Maaß has successfully passed his doctoral examination on 24.10.2023, the IUL congratulates very warmly! Numerous listeners attended the doctoral lecture of Mr. Maaß on the topic "Targeted residual stress adjustment in incremental sheet metal forming". Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Härtel from the BTU Cottbus traveled especially for the examination as a reviewer. In addition to Prof. Härtel, the examination was attended by the supervisor of the dissertation, Prof. Dr. A. Erman Tekkaya, the chairman Prof. Dr.-Ing Ulrich Handge from the LKT of TU Dortmund University and the examiner Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Menzel from the IM of TU Dortmund University.

In his dissertation, which will soon be published in the series "Dortmunder Umformtechnik" by Shaker Verlag, Mr. Maaß deals with the fundamental analysis of residual stress generation in incremental sheet metal forming processes. By adjusting the process parameters, load-adapted residual stresses can be specifically set in the manufactured sheet metal components to increase their performance. After the examination, Mr. Maaß invited the commission, family, and friends as well as the whole IUL team to a drink & snacks in the test field.
