Ms. Komodromos and the examination board on March 23, 2024
The IUL congratulates Ms. Anna Komodromos on passing her doctoral examination. On 25.03.2024, numerous listeners attended the doctoral lecture with the title Development and application of additively manufacturing of hot stamping tools with ball-burnished surfaces of Ms. Komodromos. Prof. Dr.-Ing. G. Witt from the Chair of Production Engineering from the University of Duisburg-Essen and Prof. Dr.-Ing. A. E. Tekkaya from the IUL reviewed the presentation. In addition, the examination was chaired by Prof. Dr. U. Handge from the LKT and the examiner Mr. Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. P. Woizeschke from the LMP+ of the ISF of the TU Dortmund. In her dissertation, Ms. Komodromos deals fundamentally with the investigation of the influence on tool surfaces, which were produced by means of directed energy deposition and subsequent ball burnishing, on hot stamping of 22MnB5 sheets. The influence of additively manufactured cooling channels close to the surface was also investigated. These investigations were carried out taking into account the resulting heat balance and material flow. It has been shown that the tools developed can be used to produce hot stamped components with more homogeneous properties, such as sheet thickness and hardness, and that the tool temperature can be significantly reduced.
