The International Electrical Steel Sheet Summit (IESSS) took place on 22–23 April 2026 in Aachen (Germany) bringing together researchers and industry experts working on electrical steel, e-mobility, and energy-efficient drive systems.

The conference served as an international platform for discussing developments in electrical steel production, processing, and testing while also providing valuable networking opportunities for the IUL colleagues with both academic and industrial partners. This year, IUL, in cooperation with thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG in Bochum, investigated the influencing factors in the slitting of electrical steel coils within the framework of the master’s thesis of Mr. Baris Aydin. One of the main outcomes of this collaboration highlighted the importance of selecting the slitting clearance based not only on the sheet thickness but also on the grain size of the electrical steel. The results of this study were presented by Mr. Olaf Schrage. IUL would like to express its sincere gratitude to Mr. Christian Burkat, Mr. Harry Grundmann and Mr. Michael Ulrich for their excellent cooperation.
