During his two-week student internship at the Institute of Forming Technology and Lightweight Components (IUL) at TU Dortmund University, our intern, Domann Darius, gained a diverse insight into the research and day-to-day work of mechanical engineering. Under the guidance of our staff, he was able to contribute to various tasks and projects.

His responsibilities included work in the areas of additive and machining manufacturing, electrical and information technology, and thermomechanical materials testing. In the process, he learned how to operate modern machines and measurement systems and gained insight into the planning, execution, and evaluation of scientific experiments.
It was particularly important to us to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience and to provide a realistic impression of daily work in research and engineering. We are pleased that the internship further strengthened his interest in manufacturing technology and provided an exciting insight into the diverse tasks carried out at our institute.
