Open House Day 2025

Live demonstrations showcased machines used in bulk metal forming as well as systems for the additive manufacturing of modern forming tools. This allowed guests to experience first-hand how materials are formed under high loads and which technologies the IUL is developing for future industrial applications.
A special highlight of the day was the interactive forging activity: A demonstration blacksmith showed how a nail or a small heart can be shaped by hand using traditional techniques – an impressive glimpse into historic craftsmanship.
To round off the visit, coffee and freshly baked waffles were provided. Younger guests were invited to design their own buttons, which were then given their final shape through a small sheet-metal forming process. In this playful way, curiosity and enthusiasm for engineering were sparked.
The Open House Day 2025 once again combined science, hands-on experience, and family-friendly activities – showcasing how engaging and accessible forming technology can be.
