Baosteel visit at the IUL

On 10 November 2025, the Institute for Metal Forming and Lightweight Components (IUL) had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from Baosteel.

The group consisted of Dr Lian Changwei (Baosteel Automotive Steel Research Institute), Mr Que Yuehai (Baosteel Technology Management Department) and Mr Xiandong Liu (Baosteel European R&D Centre).

To kick off the visit, Prof. Yannis Korkolis held a session on strategic management and cooperation opportunities. Afterwards, the guests were given a practical insight into current process developments during live demonstrations of hot forming, prepared by Marina Maia and Christopher Horstmann. A subsequent tour of the experimental hall provided further impressions of the institute's experimental work. According to this, a technical discussion on the material characterisation of high-strength automotive steels took place, in which Dr. Marlon Hahn and Dr. Heinrich Traphöner also participated.
