Visit of Dr. Béres Gábor József at the IUL

On April 4, 2025, the Institute of Forming Technology and Lightweight Components (IUL) at TU Dortmund University had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Béres Gábor József, Assistant Professor and Vice-Dean of Science at the John von Neumann University in Hungary.

The visit began with an exchange between Dr. Béres and Prof. Korkolis, Head of the Institute, along with Robin Gitschel, Head of Department for Profile and Sheet Metal Forming and Eike Hoffmann, Head of Testing. A highlight of the visit was Dr. Béres’s guest lecture titled “The Relevance of Hardening During Thin Sheet Bending,” in which he addressed the complexity of anisotropy and loading-unloading behavior in metallic materials. Special attention was given to kinematic hardening, particularly in the context of springback prediction in thin sheet forming. The presentation also featured insights from his own research as well as modeling approaches in AutoForm®. Following the lecture, guests and IUL members toured the experimental facilities.
