On February 11, 2026, the first project meeting of the DFG project “Characterization of Thin Sheets in the In-Plane Torsion Test” took place at the Institute of Forming Technology and Lightweight Components (IUL).

The meeting was attended by representatives of thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH, ERICHSEN GmbH & Co. KG, and Novelis Deutschland GmbH. Ioana Weinand and Sebastian Möller participated on behalf of thyssenkrupp Rasselstein. ERICHSEN was represented by Dr. Daniel Staupendahl and Leon Schmidtmann. Sebastijan Jurendic attended on behalf of Novelis Deutschland. From IUL, Dr. Heinrich Traphöner, Dr. Hamed Dardei Joghan, Marina Maia, and Christopher Horstmann took part in the meeting.

Following the welcome and a brief introduction of the institute by Dr. Heinrich Traphöner, Christopher Horstmann, as the project researcher responsible for the scientific execution of the project, presented the current status of the research work. The focus was on the mechanical characterization of thin sheets, the discussion of initial results and methodological aspects. In addition, new developments in the in-plane torsion test were introduced.

The program concluded with a guided tour of the experimental hall, providing insights into the ongoing experimental activities at the institute.
