On August 28, 2025, the research group FOR FUNDAM³ENT held its doctoral seminar at the Institute of Forming Technology and Lightweight Construction (IUL) at TU Dortmund. As part of this event, the group had the pleasure of welcoming two internationally recognized researchers who shared valuable insights into their current fields of work.

Prof. K. Ravi-Chandar from the University of Texas at Austin is a respected expert in experimental solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, and material failure. His work has significantly contributed to understanding how materials behave under extreme loading conditions.

Prof. Glenn S. Daehn from The Ohio State University is a leading figure in impulse-based metal forming and solid-state joining technologies. He also plays a key role in advancing innovation programs for manufacturing technologies in the United States.

FOR FUNDAM³ENT is a nationwide German research consortium focused on "Functional Surfaces via Adiabatic High-Speed Processes: Microstructure, Mechanisms, and Model Development." The aim is to gain a fundamental understanding of such processes and to enable their model-based application.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for scientific exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue. We sincerely thank Prof. Ravi-Chandar and Prof. Daehn for their inspiring lectures and open professional exchange.
