From June 17 to 21, the Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference (MSEC 2024) and the North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC 52) took place simultaneously at Knoxville Convention Center, Tennessee, USA. Several hundred participants from all over the world presented and extensively discussed their most recent work there. One contribution by the IUL, originating from a fruitful collaboration with Prof. Farahani from Clemson University (USA), introduced ‘A Novel Concept to Manufacture Nano/Microcellular Foam Structures‘ (co-authored by: Saeed Farahani, Marlon Hahn, Hamed Dardaei Joghan, and A. Erman Tekkaya) where electromagnetic sheet metal forming is suggested to eventually facilitate the generation of ultra fine foam cell structures with outstanding properties in an integrated hybrid polymer injection moulding process. We feel honored and are very thankful to the selection committee and ASME-MED board members for receiving the ASME Best Paper Award for this work (see picture). In addition, with the help of Mahdi Pirani (PhD candidate from Clemson University), an extended version of this paper just got accepted in the ASME Journal of Micro and Nano-Manufacturing. All this inspires and motivates us very much for our ongoing joint work.
