On February 8, the oral doctoral examination of Mr. Felix Kolpak took place digitally. Mr. Kolpak is head of the IUL Department of Profile and Sheet Metal Forming. The title of his dissertation is "Anisotropic hardening in cold forging: Characterization, Simulation and Consequences". In his work, Mr. Kolpak investigated ways of characterizing the anisotropic strain hardening behavior of various cold forging materials. He used the knowledge generated in the process to take the material behavior into account in forming simulations by means of extended material models. In doing so, he showed that anisotropic hardening has a drastic effect on the resulting component properties and process forces in cold forging. The IUL congratulates very warmly on the successful completion of his doctorate.
